Meesho Packing Day: A Label Workflow That Saves an Hour
By Vanshika | Published | Updated
Most sellers lose more time packing than picking. Not because packing is hard, but because the label PDF arrives in the wrong order and everything after that is a hunt. Forty orders becomes forty trips to the shelf.
The fix is a fixed sequence. Download once, crop once, group once, print once. Here is the workflow most small Meesho sellers settle on after a few messy weekends.
Why the raw Meesho label PDF slows you down
The file Meesho gives you is built for accounting, not for packing. Three things make it awkward:
- Every label carries a tax invoice section. On a 4x6 thermal roll that section is wasted, and on A4 it pushes fewer labels onto each sheet.
- Orders come in the sequence they were placed, not grouped by product. Two orders for the same kurti can sit fifteen pages apart.
- Page sizes are inconsistent across batches, so a print setting that worked yesterday clips a barcode today.
None of this matters on five orders. At forty it is the difference between a two-hour afternoon and a forty-minute one.
The workflow, in order
1. Download all labels in one go. Do not download per order. Accept every order first, then take the whole batch as one PDF. Mixing downloading and packing is what causes the missed parcel.
2. Crop the invoice off. Use the Meesho label crop tool to strip the invoice section and standardise every page to 4x6. This is the step that makes thermal printing predictable - once every page is the same size, your print dialog stops guessing.
3. Group by product, not by order. This is the step people skip and the one that saves the most time. If all twelve orders for the same SKU print together, you go to the shelf once and pack twelve. Ungrouped, you go twelve times.
4. Print, then count before you pack anything. Count the printed labels against the order count in your panel. A short stack found now costs thirty seconds. The same stack found at pickup means a parcel dispatched late, and late dispatch on Meesho carries a charge and a mark against account health - the full penalty list is here if you have not seen what each one costs.
5. Pack in label order. Do not re-sort the pile. The stack is already in the best sequence.
6. Keep the original file. You cropped the invoice off the label - you did not delete it. Keep the uncropped PDF for the month in a dated folder. It is your record if a buyer or the platform queries an order later.
Tips for cleaner 4x6 printing
- Set your printer to actual size, never "fit to page". Scaling is the most common cause of an unscannable barcode.
- Preview the first two pages before sending the whole batch.
- On a thermal roll, check the barcode has clear white space on both sides.
- If barcodes fail intermittently, the problem is usually print density, not the PDF.
- Print the day's labels in one job. Two jobs is how a page gets missed.
The parcel that comes back
A faster packing day is worth having. Knowing which orders were worth packing is worth more.
The return is the cost new sellers underestimate most. Figures of Rs 30-80 for a customer return are widely repeated and do not match what sellers actually see in the Supplier Panel - the rate card taken from live panels puts a customer return on a sub-500g parcel closer to Rs 153-165, rising past Rs 200 at heavier slabs.
There is also a distinction almost nobody gets right: an RTO parcel that was never delivered carries no reverse shipping charge, while a customer return does. Most sellers have that backwards, and it changes which products are worth listing at all. The panel rate card and the full breakdown are here: Meesho return charges and RTO explained.
Common questions
How do I crop Meesho labels to 4x6? Upload the label PDF to a label crop tool, select the label area to keep, and download the output. The invoice section is removed and every page comes out at a consistent 4x6 size for thermal printing.
Can I crop a whole batch of labels at once? Yes. Crop the full downloaded PDF rather than one order at a time - the crop applies across all pages, which is the point of downloading the batch as a single file.
Should I delete the original label PDF after cropping? No. Keep the original uncropped file in a dated folder. The invoice section is your record of the order, and you will occasionally need it.
