Page numbers look like a small detail until a stack of paper falls on the floor, or someone on the phone says the problem is on the page with the table. Numbers give everyone the same reference. The tool is free and needs no sign-in.
What Add page numbers does
The tool writes a number on each page and saves a new PDF. The rest of the page is left as it was.
- Position: bottom left, bottom centre or bottom right.
- Format: plain numbers such as 1, 2, 3, or the longer form Page 1 of 9.
- Start at: begin from any number, not only 1.
- Several files at once, each numbered with the same settings.
- Combine results into one PDF when you want the numbered files joined.
- Numbers are added in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use it
Decide where the page has free space at the bottom, then follow these steps.
- Open Add page numbers and choose your file, or drop it on the page.
- Pick the position: Left, Centre or Right.
- Pick the format: 1, 2, 3 or Page 1 of 9.
- Set Start at if the numbering should begin from a number other than 1.
- Press Add page numbers and download the numbered PDF.
How it helps sellers
When you send a month of invoices to your CA, questions come back. With numbered pages, the question is short: check page 37. Without them, both of you scroll and describe. Numbering the file before you send it makes every later conversation quicker.
Printed paperwork benefits too. A numbered manifest or picklist can be checked at a glance at handover. With the Page 1 of 9 format, anyone holding the stack knows how many sheets there should be and can spot a missing one.
- GST paperwork: number a merged invoice file so your CA can point to an exact page.
- Handover sheets: number manifests and picklists so a missing sheet is noticed before the courier leaves.
- Catalogues and price lists: number the pages so a buyer can refer to a product by page.
- Marketplace documents: number a bundle of supporting papers before you submit it for a claim or a dispute.
- Continued files: use Start at to carry on from where the previous file ended.
Tips for a clean result
The number sits near the bottom edge, so check what is already there.
- Pick the side of the page that has free space, so the number does not sit on top of text or a barcode.
- To number several files as one run, merge them first with Merge PDF and number the merged file.
- Use Page 1 of 9 for files that will be printed, so the total is visible on every sheet.
- Delete or reorder pages before numbering, not after.
